History of The McKay Firm

In 1908, McKay, McKay, Walker and Black was founded by Douglas McKay, Sr, the grandfather of the firm’s current managing partner, Julius W. “Jay” McKay, II. Douglas McKay, Jr., the father of Jay McKay, began practicing law in 1941. “Mr. Doug,” as he was known by his friends and colleagues, retired at the age of 89 and passed away in 2008. He was the Chairman of the Governors Advisory Committee on Improvement of Worker’s Compensation Laws and was the first attorney to receive the Worthy Adversary Award from the American Trial Lawyers’Association. He was also one of the 2011 SC Bar Foundation Memory Hold the Door honorees.
